“NOTHING UP MY SLEEVE”
January 28th-31st inc.
Tenerife, Canary Islands.
This year’s title is ‘Nothing up my sleeve’, and the theme
is classroom magic, spell-binding teaching with few strings or wires, back to
basics techniques to remind teachers of the art – as opposed to science
– of their skill.
Not so much entertainment as captivation, enjoyment both for the learner and
the teacher.
Furthermore, the conference is mainly aimed at teachers of young people, this year. Most of our members are in the “enseñanza reglada” sector, the main stream, with very few EFL teachers. We would really appreciate proposals for Infantil, Primary and Secondary, although we will of course consider others.
Another critical theme in the Canaries is that of the integration of immigrants, students with learning difficulties etc. An ethic of tolerance – after all, the language of magic reaches across all cultures.
We look forward to receiving your proposals, and you are quite welcome to present more than one. We would also ask you to submit abstracts which reflect your talks as clearly as possible.
The XX Jornadas de TEA, in January 2003, were a ‘big hit’ – we hope to be able to repeat that success in 2004….with your help, of course.
Best wishes,
Fiona Mauchline
